The town of Cavo

The town of Cavo between the sea, the hills and history

The town of Cavo on the Elba Island is the ideal destination for those seeking a serene holiday by the seaside with many services but without renouncing the beauty of a one-of-its-kind environment, such as that offered by this island: crystal-clear sea, lush Mediterranean vegetation and rocks of all shapes and shades, in a genuinely village-like atmosphere, far from typical tourism circuits.

The privileged position

Located in the North-East side of the Elba Island, Cavo overlooks an inlet in front of the Palmaiola lighthouse and the rock of Cerboli and, further in the background, the coast of the Maremma area up to Mount Argentario.

Cavo can be reached easily and rapidly, as it is the destination closest to the mainland and enjoys a port that connects it to Piombino via ferries and speedboats.

Cavo beyond the sea

During your holiday by the seaside on the Elba Island, you will be welcomed on a 420 meter beach, fully equipped and easily accessible, flanked by the promenade which extends all the way to Capo Castello. Here you can also visit the Tonietti Mausoleum, a liberty-style construction designed by the architect Coppedè.

If you wish to enjoy a bird’s eye view on the archipelago, try the Grande Traversata Elbana, an excursion along the paths on the main heights of the island. Many routes are also available for cycling.

If you don’t want to leave the sea, there are just as many activities you can enjoy on the Elba Island, from sailing to windsurfing, from kayak boats to snorkelling: you are bound to fall in love with the Elba Island and its seabed.

And don’t forget to take a rest between one activity and the next: after all, even Garibaldi stopped in Cavo, in 1849, during his journey towards the Island of Capraia.
